Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Volunteer Database.  The hope is that those who are looking for a place to volunteer can find a home here.  If you are one of those seekers, please feel free to contact the Calvary person for more information.  Perhaps you could go together to a meeting or an event to see how the organization works?  If you have not already contributed information and would like to, please contact the church office or email Betsy Majewski at [email protected]

This 102-year-old organization provides a network for women in ministry, advocates for women's ordination where that is not yet permitted, and encourages women to prepare for ministry roles. We are an affiliated organization with the World Council of Churches and publish a quarterly newsletter, The Woman's Pulpit, both on line and in print. I am a past president, and editor of The Woman's Pulpit. We hold international assemblies every two years; 2022 in Germany alongside the WCC, 2024 in Puerto Rico, 2026 we hope in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Environmental Justice Team, Penna. Southeast Conference, United Church of Christ

Environmental Justice is one of three mission teams active in the Penna Southeast Conference. This year we are planning how to encourage churches to get behind reducing the scourge of single-use plastic, like plastic bags in stores and plastic clamshells for baked goods, as well as continue to encourage churches to forgo styrofoam, plastic cutlery, and single-use plastic cups and plates. We have worked with UCC Disaster Ministries' PA rep to help rebuild the Eastwick neighborhood of Philadelphia, which was subject to flooding in a recent hurricane.
